The song samples the 1956 song “Tu vuò fà l’americano” by Renato Carosone and written by Carosone and Nicola Salerno. “We No Speak Americano” has become an international hit, reaching the top of the charts in Denmark, Hungary, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. It peaked inside the top ten of the charts in countries such as Australia, Belgium (Flanders), Israel, Spain and Norway.
