“Automatic” is a song by the Pointer Sisters, released on the Planet Records label at the end of 1983.
Ultra Naté is an American house music, Dance-pop and sometimes R&B musician who has achieved a respectable amount of success on the pop charts with songs such as “Free” and “If You Could Read My Mind” as part of Stars on 54.
Virtually all of her singles have reached the Top 10 of the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart. Such singles include “Show Me”, “Free”, “Desire”, “Get it Up (the Feeling)”, “Love’s the Only Drug”, and her most recent back-to-back number-one hits “Automatic” and “Give it All You Got” featuring Chris Willis.

Halloween @ Cruz 101

October is nearly upon us and with it comes one of Cruz 101’s favourite events – The Halloween Ball!
Every year this event is filled to capacity and with October 31st falling on a Saturday this year the event promises to be huge.
The club will undergo a complete transformation becoming an interactive haunting experience for those who dare. Mistress Cara will be climbing out of her coffin to preside over events, hosting our annual Fancydress Competition with the chance to win a huge cash prize.

Kelly Wilde will be live on stage performing her fantastic Halloween Show with monster party anthems perfect for the midnight hour!

Cruz 101 Manchester Pride 2009 Line Up

This year Cruz 101 hosts its 17th Manchester Pride guaranteeing a party to remember. Disco Inferno is the club’s longest running night, nearly as long as the club has been open, and to celebrate its huge success and popularity the club has devoted Pride celebrations this year to the golden age of Disco, when afros and platforms ruled the streets, shoulder pads, men in makeup and ra-ra skirts were the required attire and the disco dance floor was born. With a weekend dedicated to all the hits from the 70s 80s and 90s, including Wham, Madonna, Village People, Abba, Sinitta, Cher, Pet Shop Boys, and Kylie.
From the golden age of the dance floor, this promises to be a weekend not to be missed. Decked out in true disco style complete with a funky illuminated dance floor and mirror balls galore, Cruz will re-live the hedonistic days of Studio 54, giving those who were there a chance to remember, and those who missed it to experience it firsthand.
The 10 day festival kicks off with a special ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of Pride:

A rainbow of fun and frolics with ribbon cutting and speeches from Manchester Pride herald the start of this 10 day festival. Miss Cara hosts the festivities, open on both floors with Almighty Donald spinning all the latest pop tunes upstairs and Rob James playing classic vocal trance in Sub.
Pride’s Got Talent the Final Disco Inferno
Mon 24th August – 11pm – late

Pride’s Got Talent The Final – you and the judges decide who will go forward to perform on the Main Stage over The BIG Weekend. The legend continues and having just celebrated it’s 15th birthday the hottest Monday night in the village offers you the best music and cutest men. DJ Dino plays the very best of 70s, 80s and 90s disco classics. Great value night out.
Back2Back Big Weekender Queer as Folk Style

Thu 27th August – 11pm – 5am
The only place to spend Thursday night in Manchester, Back2Back kicks off Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend 2009 with the Official Pre-Pride Party. Working together on this sell-out night for over six years, Cruz and Poptastic go back to back on two floors of cheesy kitsch bitch pop music in Cruz and funky house and dance downstairs in Sub 101. Two styles of music, two DJs: Rob James and John Hamilton.
Check out the video screens in the club to find out the total for this week’s What’s in the Box? star prize – it could be anything from £100 to a massive £2000! This Pride special hosts the guys from the American version of Queer as Folk with extra special prizes and celebrates the 10 year anniversary of the show.
Big Gay Friday

Miss Cara hosts the Official Opening Party and the BIG weekend starts right here with the busiest Friday night in the village with regular giveaways and antics galore! Britain’s Got Talent

The dance troupe Diversity beat Susan Boyle into second place to win the worlds biggest talent show. Dance troupe Diversity have been crowned the winners of Britain’s Got Talent 2009.

The ten-strong dance troupe from Essex and London gained the most public votes in the competition, beating Scottish singer Susan Boyle into second place.

Diversity’s choreographer Ashley Banjo was blown away by the result, told Ant and Dec, “When you said our name I thought I was dreaming. Everyone who has voted – you have changed our lives”.

The group have only been together since 2007 but with members aged 12-25 they blew the judges away with their incomparable ‘transformer’ dance routine.

Earlier this evening, Simon told them, “This is the only performance of the night, if we were giving marks, I would have given a ten. It was sheer and utter perfection.”

Said Ashley, “To perform at the Royal Variety Show would be something we’d remember for the rest of our lives. Boys, it’s gonna happen. You have a cheque for £100,000. And in December you will perform for the Queen.

Cruz 101 Birthday Bash

Always one for firsts, Saturday 23rd May – Cruz’s 17th birthday party, sees Cruz 101 substitute a charity fundraiser birthday party for the traditional chart topping PA, in aid of it’s local charity, the Lesbian and Gay Foundation. Following in the traditions set out by one of the club’s founders, the late Frank “Foo Foo” Lamar, the club is using this spectacular event to help raise much needed funds in these testing financial times. Putting together a prize fund of over £10000.00, the club has joined forces with the LGF to host a lottery of gay proportions!
Tickets for the prize draw will be on sale throughout the Village from the Cruz 101 reception, the Village Off Licence, the LGF and from Napoleons for £1 each which goes directly to the LGF – buy them just to support the LGF or just to increase your chances of winning on the night! Check out the website for details of which of your favourite Village venues are supporting the LGF by selling tickets.
All the guests coming to the party get a ticket on admission meaning someone is gonna be a very lucky winner! You might be wondering what the top prize is? Well we can reveal today that amazingly the club is putting up for grabs a brand new 2009 Citroen C1 with private registration plate! One pound – one lucky customer!!!!
