There was just one small slip-up onstage where the singing legend was strutting her way across the bleachers to Music, the second song in her set, and was unable to step up onto one of them and had to repeat the dance move to hoist herself up.

On the ITV show: “There will be lots of duets. The plan so far is for a duet with her sister Dannii Minogue, Nick Cave, Jason Donovan and a finale featuring a duet with Madonna.”

The entertainer has already confirmed plans to release a Greatest Hits compilation album featuring “acoustic and orchestral versions” of her biggest songs.

She has also teased plans to embark on an “anti-tour”, which will see her take the re-worked versions of her most popular tracks around small venues instead of arenas.

Neighbours fans will be hoping she decides to dust off Charlene’s dungarees for the anniversary too.

Madonna’s Golden Globe winning song Masterpiece is not eligible to be nominated for an Academy Award!
The requirements are pretty minimal, but a technicality threw a monkey wrench in the Material Girl’s Oscar dreams.
According to the Academy, songs must “consist of words and music, both of which are original and used specifically for the film; and be used either in the body of the film, or as the “first music cue” in the closing credits.”
The only thing preventing a nomination is the fact that the song is the second, not the first, featured in the film’s closing credits!
Talk about a “D’oh!”
It’s a damn shame Madonna and the producers of her film didn’t think of this before they released it! After all, the Queen of Pop has done just about EVERYTHING except win an Oscar.
Oh well. She’s got plenty of years left and we’re confident this won’t be the last song she writes for a film that isn’t up for award consideration!

“Hung Up” prominently features a sample of the pop group ABBA’s hit single “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight),” for which Madonna personally sought permission from ABBA songwriters Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. Musically the song is influenced by 1980s pop, with a chugging groove and chorus and a background element of a ticking clock that suggests the fear of wasting time. Lyrically the song is written as a traditional dance number about a strong, independent woman who has relationship troubles.
“Hung Up” received critical praise from reviewers, who suggested that the track should restore the singer’s popularity, which had diminished following the release of her 2003 album American Life. Critics suggested it was her best dance track to date and have compared it favorably to other Madonna tracks in the same genre. They also complimented the effective synchronization of the ABBA sample with the actual song. “Hung Up” became a worldwide commercial success, peaking atop the charts of 41 countries and earning a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Directed by Johan Renck, the clip starts with Madonna clad in a pink leotard dancing alone in a ballet studio and concludes at a gaming parlor where she dances with her backup troupe. The 53-year-old singer is going to make her return with a massive gig in Hyde Park.

She is planning to win back her Queen Of Pop title by playing to 60,000 fans smack bang in the middle of the Olympics.

What with the 2012 Games, The Stone Roses reunion and now Madge, it’s going to be a busy summer.

Just when everyone thought she was winding down, she’s coming back to the stage with a vengeance.

A source said: “Madonna is planning a huge comeback and was determined to do it at Hyde Park while the Olympics are on.

“She’s been out of the limelight musically for a while but is ready to jump back into the saddle and thinks there’s no better time to do it than when London hosts the Olympics.”

Madonna is old enough to be a granny and might be getting on a bit to get back into the groove — but she knows what she’s doing.

She has sold more than 300million records worldwide and amassed a fortune of more than £400million since her first UK hit Holiday reached No6 in the charts in 1984.

No doubt she will have a huge production and more complex choreography than ever before.

And if tickets sell well, you can bet it won’t just be the one night either. After trying and failing at being a director after her latest movie W E was slated, she announced she was going back to her day job by releasing a 12th studio album.

Last month, Em — as her pals call her — said the follow-up to 2008 album Hard Candy will be “more good music” and out next spring.

Earlier this week, it was also revealed Madonna is to perform at next February’s Super Bowl in Indianapolis, where she will headline the annual NFL match after beating off competition from Lady GaGa.

By the time she hits Hyde Park, she’ll have the new songs and dance routines nailed.

From her tenth studio album Confessions on a Dance Floor. Produced by Madonna and Stuart Price, the song was released as the third single from the album by Warner Bros. Records on June 6, 2006. The decision was spurred by the fact that “Get Together” was the third most downloaded song from the album. It was also released to coincide with the start of Madonna’s Confessions Tour. Inspired by Stardust’s single “Music Sounds Better with You”, “Get Together” portrays an anthem-like picture with its lyrics, about the different possibilities of finding love on the dance floor.
Contemporary critics appreciated the song, calling it fluid in nature and a wonderful dance track. They complimented Madonna’s ability to turn cliché comments into pop slogans with the song. After its worldwide release, the song became a success on the dance charts of the United States but failed to enter the official Billboard Hot 100 chart. American Life is the ninth studio album by American singer-songwriter Madonna. It was released on April 22, 2003 by Maverick Records and distributed by Warner Bros. Records. The album produced in its entirety by Madonna and Mirwais Ahmadzaï featured references to many parts of American culture. The album is considered a concept album, with recurring themes of “American Dream” and “materialism”. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and British Phonographic Industry (BPI) both certified it platinum in recognition of one million shipments in the US, and three hundred thousand shipments in the UK, respectively. It is the second Madonna Album to have a Parental Advisory sticker, after Erotica. “Give It 2 Me” is a song by American singer-songwriter Madonna, featured on her eleventh studio album Hard Candy. It was released on June 4, 2008 by Warner Bros. Records as the second single from the album. The song was written by Madonna as an anthemic, self-manifesto song which, although it appears to be about dance and sex, is a reference to Madonna’s career spanning three decades in the music industry. Musically, “Give It 2 Me” is an upbeat dance song, featuring instrumentation from West African percussion and cowbells. Backing vocals are provided by Pharrell Williams.

“Express Yourself” is a song by American singer-songwriter Madonna from her fourth studio album Like a Prayer. It was released as the second single from the album on May 9, 1989, by Sire Records. The song was included on the greatest hits compilation albums The Immaculate Collection (1990), and Celebration (2009). “Express Yourself” was the first song that Madonna and producer Stephen Bray collaborated for Like a Prayer. “Frozen” is a song by American singer-songwriter Madonna from her eight studio album Ray of Light. It was released as the lead single from the album on 23 February 1998 by Maverick Records. It was written by Madonna and Patrick Leonard who had previously worked together on the albums True Blue (1986), Who’s That Girl (1987), Like a Prayer (1989) and I’m Breathless (1990) and the single “I’ll Remember” (1994). The song was produced by Madonna, William Orbit and Leonard and remixed by Victor Calderone, Stereo MC’s and Orbit for the single release.

“Material Girl” incorporated New Wave music and consists of synth arrangements with a robotic voice repeating the hook. The lyrics identify with materialism, with Madonna asking for a rich and affluent life, rather than romance and relationships. Contemporary and old critics have frequently noted “Material Girl” and “Like a Virgin” as the songs that made Madonna an icon. “Material Girl” was a commercial success, reaching the top-five in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, Japan and United Kingdom. It reached the position two of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, becoming her third top-five single there.
The music video was a mimicry of Marilyn Monroe’s performance of the song “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” from the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The mimicked scenes are interspersed with scenes of a Hollywood director trying to win the heart of an actress, played by Madonna herself. Discovering that, contrary to her song, the young woman was not impressed by money and expensive gifts, he pretended to be penniless and succeeded in taking her out on a date. Scholars noted the symbology of the video and deduced it as a medium for promoting Madonna’s image. She has performed the song in four of her world tours, most of them being mimicry of the song and the video.
“Material Girl” has been covered by a number of artists, including Britney Spears, The Chipettes and Hilary Duff. It has appeared in films like Moulin Rouge! (2001) and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004). Madonna has often remarked that she regrets recording “Material Girl” as the name became a pseudonym for her in mainstream media. The song has been labelled an empowering influence for women, and was the subject of some debate.

An up-tempo electronic pop song with techno, European dance and disco influences, “Ray of Light” contains elements of rock music, which have drawn comparison to the work of Oasis, as well as several sound effects such as whistles, bleeps and bells, the usage of electric guitar, and underlying synths. Lyrically, the song has a theme of freedom.The song has received positive critical reception, being acclaimed for its club-friendly, electronic sound as well as its greater level of lyrical maturity, “emotional warmth”, and the way in which it shows a more spiritual side to Madonna. Critics also praised the fact that the song was a departure from Madonna’s previous work; “Ray of Light” is oriented in Madonna’s dance roots, yet, it goes deeper, and incorporates more underground genres. “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” is the best-known song from the 1978 musical Evita with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. Sung by the title character Eva Perón, it was titled “It’s Only Your Lover Returning” before Rice settled on the eventual name. It appears early in the second act as Evita addresses the crowd from the balcony of the Casa Rosada and features a sweeping melody tied to broad emotional themes of regret and defiance, characteristic of Lloyd Webber’s most popular songs.
The song shares its tune with “Oh What a Circus” from the same show.
