An uptempo dance song, “End of Time” exhibits the influence of late Fela Kuti, as stated by Knowles, in the sense that the bass line of the song was influenced by the multi-instrumentalist musician and composer. Also displaying elements Afrobeat, the song’s instrumentation consists of marching band percussion, drums, and horns. The high energy level provided by these musical instruments have been noted by music critics to have similarities to several Michael Jackson’s songs, including “Off the Wall” (1980). “End of Time” has been generally very well received by music critics who have coined it as one of highlights on 4 thanks to the effective melding of its heavy beat and its lyrical content. Some also noted that boldness of Knowles on “End of Time” and praised how the beat manages to the song a catchy one.

“You Da One” is a song by Barbadian recording artist Rihanna, from her sixth studio album Talk That Talk (2011). The song was written by Ester Dean, Dr. Luke, Rihanna, John Hill and Cirkut, while production of the song was handled by Dr. Luke and Cirkut. The song was given its first play on Capital FM on November 11, 2011, and was released as the second single from the album on November 13, 2011, in the UK and on November 14, 2011, in the United States. “You Da One” was met with a positive reception from music critics, who praised the reggae and dancehall composition, and compared the song to some of Rihanna’s previous singles, “What’s My Name?” and “Man Down”, which also embody the same Caribbean vibes and composition.

The song was written by Madonna, William Orbit, Clive Muldoon, Dave Curtiss and Christine Leach, and was produced by Madonna and Orbit.
An up-tempo electronic pop song with techno, European dance and disco influences, “Ray of Light” contains elements of rock music, which have drawn comparison to the work of Oasis, as well as several sound effects such as whistles, bleeps and bells, the usage of electric guitar, and underlying synths. Lyrically, the song has a theme of freedom.The song has received positive critical reception, being acclaimed for its club-friendly, electronic sound as well as its greater level of lyrical maturity, “emotional warmth”, and the way in which it shows a more spiritual side to Madonna. Steps were a British pop group that achieved a series of charted singles between 1997 and 2001. Their name was based around a simple marketing gimmick: each of their music videos was choreographed, and the dance steps were included with most of their single releases. Steps formed on 7 May 1997 and disbanded on 26 December 2001. In total Steps have sold more than 15 million records, and achieved 14 consecutive Top 5 singles – a feat only surpassed by Boyzone (with 17), Oasis (with 18) and The Beatles, Girls Aloud and Westlife (who had 20).

“You” was the 9th single released by UK pop group, S Club 7 on 11 February 2002. The track was a very uptempo-retro number reminiscent of the group’s third single “You’re My Number One”. The video was set in the 1950s and is described in the BeSt CD booklet as the “candyfloss-bright, tongue-in-cheek 50s pastiche”. This track was the last single to feature departed band member Paul Cattermole and sparked the last leg of the S Club 7 journey. The song reached no. 2 on the UK Singles Chart. It also charts on the 2002 Year End Singles chart at number 70.

This song debuted at number 1 in the UK Singles Chart and despite the success of the group’s debut single “Pure and Simple”, it only spent one week at the top of the chart and only a 10th of the number of their first record were sold.

Soft Cell are an English synthpop duo who came to prominence in the early 1980s. They consist of vocalist Marc Almond and instrumentalist David Ball. The duo is most widely known for their 1981 worldwide hit version of “Tainted Love” and influential multi-platinum debut Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. In the UK, they had ten Top 40 hits, including “Bedsitter” (#4), “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye” (#3), “Torch” (#2), and “What!” (#3), and also had four Top 20 albums between 1981 and 1984. The duo split in 1984, but reformed in the early 2000s to tour and released a new album in 2002. Their songs have been covered by various artists including Nine Inch Nails, David Gray, Nouvelle Vague and A-ha. Soft Cell’s track “Memorabilia” recognized the band as pioneers of techno style. The duo have sold 10 millions records worldwide.

The first single from the soundtrack “Express” will be released on November 19, 2010.
