As I have been off sick recently I have fell behind on Madonna blogs so I will continue for another 10 days until December 8th

EXCLUSIVE

The 53-year-old singer is going to make her return with a massive gig in Hyde Park.

She is planning to win back her Queen Of Pop title by playing to 60,000 fans smack bang in the middle of the Olympics.

What with the 2012 Games, The Stone Roses reunion and now Madge, it’s going to be a busy summer.

Just when everyone thought she was winding down, she’s coming back to the stage with a vengeance.

A source said: “Madonna is planning a huge comeback and was determined to do it at Hyde Park while the Olympics are on.

“She’s been out of the limelight musically for a while but is ready to jump back into the saddle and thinks there’s no better time to do it than when London hosts the Olympics.”

Madonna is old enough to be a granny and might be getting on a bit to get back into the groove — but she knows what she’s doing.

She has sold more than 300million records worldwide and amassed a fortune of more than £400million since her first UK hit Holiday reached No6 in the charts in 1984.

No doubt she will have a huge production and more complex choreography than ever before.

And if tickets sell well, you can bet it won’t just be the one night either. After trying and failing at being a director after her latest movie W E was slated, she announced she was going back to her day job by releasing a 12th studio album.

Last month, Em — as her pals call her — said the follow-up to 2008 album Hard Candy will be “more good music” and out next spring.

Earlier this week, it was also revealed Madonna is to perform at next February’s Super Bowl in Indianapolis, where she will headline the annual NFL match after beating off competition from Lady GaGa.

By the time she hits Hyde Park, she’ll have the new songs and dance routines nailed.

Get Together

From her tenth studio album Confessions on a Dance Floor. Produced by Madonna and Stuart Price, the song was released as the third single from the album by Warner Bros. Records on June 6, 2006. The decision was spurred by the fact that “Get Together” was the third most downloaded song from the album. It was also released to coincide with the start of Madonna’s Confessions Tour. Inspired by Stardust’s single “Music Sounds Better with You”, “Get Together” portrays an anthem-like picture with its lyrics, about the different possibilities of finding love on the dance floor.
Contemporary critics appreciated the song, calling it fluid in nature and a wonderful dance track. They complimented Madonna’s ability to turn cliché comments into pop slogans with the song. After its worldwide release, the song became a success on the dance charts of the United States but failed to enter the official Billboard Hot 100 chart. It reached the top ten in countries like Canada, the United Kingdom and Italy and topped the chart in Spain.

The Beat Goes on

“Beat Goes On” featuring West, has a 70s R&B meeting 80s dance vibe and a rap interlude by West. Williams has commented that Madonna’s work ethic was different from other artists that he had worked with before.

American Life

American Life is the ninth studio album by American singer-songwriter Madonna. It was released on April 22, 2003 by Maverick Records and distributed by Warner Bros. Records. The album produced in its entirety by Madonna and Mirwais Ahmadzaï featured references to many parts of American culture. The album is considered a concept album, with recurring themes of “American Dream” and “materialism”. Furthermore, the themes reject the reputation Madonna held in the 1980s with her worldwide hit “Material Girl”. Essentially composed of pop, electronica, rock and dance-pop music, critics also noted influences of acoustic music on tracks such as “X-Static Process” and “Intervention”. The album also featured her 2002 James Bond theme “Die Another Day” from the film of the same name.
In the United States and in the United Kingdom the album debuted at number one. It was nominated for two Grammys at the 46th Grammy Awards. The record was the world’s 32nd-best-selling album in 2003. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and British Phonographic Industry (BPI) both certified it platinum in recognition of one million shipments in the US, and three hundred thousand shipments in the UK, respectively. It is the second Madonna Album to have a Parental Advisory sticker, after Erotica. Generally critic opinion was mixed with responses noting the “warmer sounds” as well as several critics noting the “innovation” at a time of R&B dominance, but general responses calling the record uninspired and uninteresting.

Give It 2 Me

“Give It 2 Me” is a song by American singer-songwriter Madonna, featured on her eleventh studio album Hard Candy. It was released on June 4, 2008 by Warner Bros. Records as the second single from the album. The song was written by Madonna as an anthemic, self-manifesto song which, although it appears to be about dance and sex, is a reference to Madonna’s career spanning three decades in the music industry. Musically, “Give It 2 Me” is an upbeat dance song, featuring instrumentation from West African percussion and cowbells. Backing vocals are provided by Pharrell Williams.
“Give It 2 Me” received positive reviews from contemporary critics. The song became Madonna’s thirty-ninth number-one single on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. It charted on the Billboard Hot 100 for one week, and reached a peak of fifty-seven only, due to limited radio play. The song topped the music charts in Hungary, the Netherlands and Spain, while it attained top-ten positions on the charts of many other nations.
The music video featured Madonna recreating her look from the Elle magazine May covergirl photo shoot, and was directed by photographer Tom Munro. Williams had a guest appearance in the video. It received positive response for her retro-inspired look. Madonna performed “Give It 2 Me” on both the promotional tour for Hard Candy, and the 2008–09 Sticky & Sweet Tour, where she performed it as the final song of the concert. “Give It 2 Me” received a Grammy nomination in 2009 in the Best Dance Recording category.

Express Yourself

“Express Yourself” is a song by American singer-songwriter Madonna from her fourth studio album Like a Prayer. It was released as the second single from the album on May 9, 1989, by Sire Records. The song was included on the greatest hits compilation albums The Immaculate Collection (1990), and Celebration (2009). “Express Yourself” was the first song that Madonna and producer Stephen Bray collaborated for Like a Prayer. Written and produced by them, the song was a tribute to American funk and soul band Sly and the Family Stone. The main inspiration behind the song is female empowerment, urging women never to go for second-best and to always express their inner feelings.
“Express Yourself” is an upbeat dance-pop song that takes its main theme from the 1965 song “Respect” by Otis Redding. It features instrumentation from brass, hand claps and drum beats, while the chorus is backed by the sound of saxophone and percussion. The lyrics talk about rejecting material pleasures and only accepting the best for oneself; subtexts are employed throughout the song. “Express Yourself” received positive reviews from critics, who applauded the gender equality message of the song and complimented the song for being a hymn to freedom and encouragement to women and all oppressed minorities. The song was also a commercial success, reaching the top of the charts in Canada, Europe, Italy and Switzerland and top-five in other nations, except France, where the song was not released.

Vogue

“Vogue” is an upbeat dance-pop song which contains a house beat and groove. Noted to contain influences of deep house, it is a contemporary track which followed the trends of dance music in the 1990s; nevertheless, it has strong influences of 70s disco within its composition. The song also contains a spoken section, in which the singer namechecks various golden era Hollywood celebrities. Lyrically, the song is about enjoying oneself on the dance floor no matter who one is, and it contains a theme of escapism. Critically, “Vogue” has been met with appreciation ever since its release; reviewers have praised its anthemic nature, calling it a funky and catchy song, as well as one of the singer’s musical highlights. Critics also noticed that the song, which bears strong resemblances to classic disco music, was still successful despite the genre’s commercial death several years before. The song also won several music awards. Commercially, the song has become Madonna’s biggest international hits, topping the charts in over 30 countries, becoming her first multi-platinum single in the United States and selling over six million copies globally, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time.
The music video for “Vogue”, directed by David Fincher, showed Madonna paying homage to numerous golden era Hollywood actresses. Shot in black-and-white, the video takes stylistic inspiration from the 1920s and 30s; in it, Madonna and her dancers can be seen voguing different choreographed scenes. Critics noted the way in which Madonna used her postmodern influence to expose an underground subcultural movement to the masses. The video has been ranked as one of the greatest of all times in different critic lists and polls, and won three awards at the 1990 MTV Video Music Awards out of a total of nine nominations.

Material Girl

“Material Girl” incorporated New Wave music and consists of synth arrangements with a robotic voice repeating the hook. The lyrics identify with materialism, with Madonna asking for a rich and affluent life, rather than romance and relationships. Contemporary and old critics have frequently noted “Material Girl” and “Like a Virgin” as the songs that made Madonna an icon. “Material Girl” was a commercial success, reaching the top-five in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, Japan and United Kingdom. It reached the position two of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, becoming her third top-five single there.
The music video was a mimicry of Marilyn Monroe’s performance of the song “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” from the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The mimicked scenes are interspersed with scenes of a Hollywood director trying to win the heart of an actress, played by Madonna herself. Discovering that, contrary to her song, the young woman was not impressed by money and expensive gifts, he pretended to be penniless and succeeded in taking her out on a date. Scholars noted the symbology of the video and deduced it as a medium for promoting Madonna’s image. She has performed the song in four of her world tours, most of them being mimicry of the song and the video.
“Material Girl” has been covered by a number of artists, including Britney Spears, The Chipettes and Hilary Duff. It has appeared in films like Moulin Rouge! (2001) and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004). Madonna has often remarked that she regrets recording “Material Girl” as the name became a pseudonym for her in mainstream media. The song has been labelled an empowering influence for women, and was the subject of some debate.
