“The Lonely Goatherd” is a show tune from the musical The Sound of Music that makes use of yodelling.
The song is a well-known example of yodeling, which is a part of the traditional music of the Austrian Alps, where the musical is set.

The lyrics are also well-known and widely quoted, especially the opening line, “High on a hill was a lonely goatherd.”

Soft Cell – Tainted Love

Soft Cell are an English synthpop duo who came to prominence in the early 1980s. They consist of vocalist Marc Almond and instrumentalist David Ball. The duo is most widely known for their 1981 worldwide hit version of “Tainted Love” and influential multi-platinum debut Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. In the UK, they had ten Top 40 hits, including “Bedsitter” (#4), “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye” (#3), “Torch” (#2), and “What!” (#3), and also had four Top 20 albums between 1981 and 1984. The duo split in 1984, but reformed in the early 2000s to tour and released a new album in 2002. Their songs have been covered by various artists including Nine Inch Nails, David Gray, Nouvelle Vague and A-ha. Soft Cell’s track “Memorabilia” recognized the band as pioneers of techno style. The duo have sold 10 millions records worldwide.

“Till the World Ends” is a song by American recording artist Britney Spears. It was released as the second single from her upcoming seventh studio album, Femme Fatale. “Till the World Ends” was written by Alexander Kronlund, Kesha, Dr. Luke and Max Martin, while being produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Billboard. The main inspiration of the song for Kesha was imagining Spears and any other female musician touring the world. “Till the World Ends” was leaked on March 3, 2011, and Spears premiered it the following day at Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. Musically, the song is a dance-oriented number with a chant-like chorus and breathy vocals, and lyrics that talk about dancing until the end of the world.

“I’m in Love (I Wanna Do It)” is a song by the Italian DJ Alex Gaudino. The song was written by Tim Powell, Alex Fortunato Gaudino and Giuseppe D’Albenzio. It was released on the 19th September 2010. The song reached #10 in the UK and number one on Billboard’s Hot Dance Airplay chart in October 2010.

It was released on November 12, 2010, via LaFace Records, celebrating Pink’s first decade on the music scene.The album features Pink’s biggest hits from all her studio albums. Its track list differs depending on region, with three new tracks, only two of which are included in the North American Edition, those are the hit singles “Raise Your Glass” and “Fuckin’ Perfect.”Greatest Hits… So Far is Pink’s fifth Top 10 effort in the United States and her sixth consecutive Multi-Platinum album in Australia. According to Pink’s official website, the set has so far sold over two million units worldwide

“What’s Love Got to Do with It” is the second single (after “Let’s Stay Together”) released from Tina Turner’s fifth solo album Private Dancer. In Europe it was the third single following Turner’s cover of The Beatles’ “Help!”. “What’s Love Got to Do with It” became Turner’s most successful single.It also ranked #38 on Songs of the Century. It was the 17th best-selling single of 1984 in the UK. The song was originally recorded by UK pop group Bucks Fizz, but unreleased until 2000. In 1993, the song’s name was used as the title for What’s Love Got to Do With It, a biographical film about Tina Turner’s life.

“Hungry Like the Wolf” is a song by the British New Wave band Duran Duran. Written by the band members, the song was produced by Colin Thurston for the group’s second studio album Rio (1982). The song was released in May 1982 as the band’s fifth single in the United Kingdom. It reached the top five of the UK Singles Chart, and received a silver certification by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).”Hungry Like the Wolf”‘s Russell Mulcahy-directed music video was filmed in the jungles of Sri Lanka, and evoked the atmosphere of the film Raiders of the Lost Ark. Although the band initially failed to break into the U.S. market, MTV placed the “Hungry Like the Wolf” video into heavy rotation. Subsequently, the group gained much exposure; the song peaked at the number three spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1983, and Duran Duran became an international sensation. The video won the first Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video in 1984.
