Stars On 45 – Carpenters Special

Posted in The Carpenters on December 28th, 2010 by H Bradley

Stars on 45 was a Dutch novelty pop act that was briefly very popular in the United Kingdom, throughout Europe, and in the United States in the early 1980s. The group later shortened its name to Stars On in the U.S., while in the U.K. and Ireland it was known as Starsound. The band, which consisted solely of studio session musicians under the direction of Jaap Eggermont, formerly of Golden Earring, popularized the medley, by recreating hit songs as faithfully as possible and stringing them together, with a common tempo and relentless underlying drum track. The point was to provide a danceable disco record which used familiar tunes—a technique that was also used in the Hooked On series of recordings released by RCA Records and K-Tel Records.

Angie Brown combines powerful, smooth and sultry in an irresistible vocal on ‘I Say A Little Prayer’ and, with BOTH Almighty and Klubkidz bringing in the modern beats to this classic track, ‘I Say A Little Prayer’ is still as catchy today as when it was originally written for Dionne Warwick in 1967!

Enrique Iglesias – Hero

Posted in Enrique Iglesias on December 20th, 2010 by H Bradley

“Hero” is a single released by Enrique Iglesias from his second English album Escape and was written for his good friend Simon Baxendale, by Iglesias, Paul Barry and Mark Taylor. Enrique first released the song to radio in early September 2001 to a positive critical and commercial reception. After the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, the song was one of the few songs chosen by radio DJs in New York to be remixed with audio from police, firefighters, civilians at Ground Zero and politicians commenting on the attacks. He was asked to sing the song live at the benefit concert America: A Tribute to Heroes ten days after the September 11, 2001 attacks. Iglesias broadcast his performance from a warehouse in New York alongside Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and Sheryl Crow. The location of the warehouse was kept secret in case of further attacks. It was Iglesias’ first televised performance of the song. He had performed the song earlier at that year’s Miss Venezuela but due to the terrorist attacks the show was not aired on television.

I Just Wanna Survive Fucking Barbra Streisand (DJSpook Edit)

Posted in Duck Sauce, Gloria Gaynor, Jsto on December 18th, 2010 by H Bradley

Well what can I say, I always get asked to put some songs together and play around to come up with a medley or mashup. So once I was asked to work with:

Gloria Gaynor – I Will Survive
Alison Jear – I Just Wanna Fucking Dance
And
Duck Sauce – Barbra Streisand

These are 3 very iconic songs in gay clubs up and down this country but after many years of hearing the same versions, sometime the music needs to be tweaked and remixed for a new fresh sound . Also these mash-ups can also give the DJ in question a rest, or break as it can be hard work and a long night without any breaks. So I like to make extended mash-ups using club remixes (instead of radio mixes)  and with so many remixes to play with the scope to make a wicked tune is endless . Using these 3 tunes I have made a wicked extended mash-up fit for any club the official track-list is as follows:

Track-Listing

Duck Sauce – Barbra Streisand (Extended Mix)
Feat Sample Alison Jear – I Just Wanna Fucking Dance (Wayne G Mix)
Gloria Gaynor – I Will Survive (Acapella Club Up Mix)
Alison Jear – I Just Wanna Fucking Dance (Wayne G Mix)

If anybody wants anything like this done, or has any ideas then please email me h.bradley@djspook.com
