Stars on 45 was a Dutch novelty pop act that was briefly very popular in the United Kingdom, throughout Europe, and in the United States in the early 1980s. The group later shortened its name to Stars On in the U.S., while in the U.K., Ireland, and Australia, it was known as Starsound (In Australia, it was actually called Stars on 45). The band, which consisted solely of studio session musicians under the direction of Jaap Eggermont, formerly of Golden Earring, popularized the medley, by recreating hit songs as faithfully as possible and stringing them together, with a common tempo and relentless underlying drum track. The point was to provide a danceable disco record which used familiar tunes—a technique that was also used in the Hooked On series of recordings released by RCA Records and K-Tel Records.

American recording artist Jennifer Lopez recorded a version for her debut album, On the 6 (1999), and the song became the third single from the album and also the most famous version of the song so far, being considered one of Lopez’s signature tunes. Released in 1999, the single peaked at number eight in the U.S., becoming Lopez’s second top ten single; it also peaked at number five in the United Kingdom. Moreover, the track earned Lopez a nomination for Best Dance Recording at the 2000 Grammy Awards. HIV: The basics
What is HIV?
HIV is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system – the body’s defence against diseases.
Are HIV And AIDS The Same?
No. When someone is described as living with HIV, they have the HIV virus in their body. A person is considered to have developed AIDS when the immune system is so weak it can no longer fight off a range of diseases with which it would normally cope.
How Is HIV Passed On?
HIV can be passed on through infected blood, semen, vaginal fluids or breast milk.
The most common ways HIV is passed on are:
Sex without a condom with someone living with HIV
Sharing infected needles, syringes or other injecting drug equipment
From an HIV-positive mother (to her child) during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding (but with effective treatment and care the risk of transmission can be greatly reduced)

“Baker Street” is a ballad by Gerry Rafferty, first released in 1978. It is a compassionate meditation on people who are living life stuck in a rut and meeting with profound disappointment. The heavily produced arrangement is especially famous for its saxophone solo. With its clearly enunciated singing, the lyrics are also memorable. Named after the famous London street of the same name, the song was included on Rafferty’s second solo album, City to City, which was Rafferty’s first release after the resolution of legal problems surrounding the formal breakup of his old band, Stealers Wheel in 1975. In the intervening three years, Rafferty had been unable to release any material due to disputes about the band’s remaining contractual recording obligations. The single for “Baker Street” #2 in the USA and reached #3 in the UK, in addition to reaching #9 in the Netherlands. A readers’ poll conducted by Rolling Stone in 2008 placed it among the “100 greatest guitar songs of all time”, and established artists covered it in the 1990s and 2000s.

About Me
I was born in Birmingham, UK in 1981. I moved to Manchester in 2002. I immediately threw myself into the large gay community
that the city has to offer, with over twenty-five bars/clubs to explore I was definitely a fish out of water and looking back
I realise that I was very naive. It was not long, though, before I had made a wide variety of friends from all different backgrounds.
Once learning that one of my friends, DJ Tin Tin, used to DJ at clubs such as “Heaven” in London and “Flamingo’s” in Blackpool
I was very interested in finding out how music was mixed and was soon using every opportunity I had to accompany him in the DJ box.
I know that watching a DJ mix from one song to another can look very easy, and in some cases it is, but once I first got into
a DJ box and witnessed a sea of buttons and switches I was completely overwhelmed. After a few weeks I started to find my feet
and became very intrigued by what DJ Tin Tin was doing. I started to ask questions like, “What does that do?” and, “What happens
if I press that?” Over time I felt confident enough to touch and push a few buttons knowing that for a brief moment I was at the
controls and in charge of entertaining the crowd. This was a very scary feeling but also at the same time I got a funny sort of
buzz out of it. It was not long until I was being allowed to do my own thing, giving me the chance to familiarise myself with
the equipment.
Times change, however, and people move on. Sadly Hollywood Showbar is no longer with us and with no job I received a phone
call from Cruz 101 nightclub in the heart of Manchester’s Gay Village. On my first night there I was incredibly nervous and more
than little scared because the venue was over three times the size I was used to.
After 5 years at Cruz 101 I would like to think I have made my place there and I currently work Fridays and Sundays. I really
enjoy my work and I have a fabulous time doing it.
