Every night I go to work and play full club remixes I always get asked “where can I get this remix from as its fabulous” Now what am I supposed to say tahat if the remix they are on about is not available on the cd single as a full club mix, and they cant find it?
For Example on a CD Single in the UK (Lets use Alexandra Burke “Bad Boys”)
The songs on that CD Single could be:
- Track 1 … Bad Boys (Radio Edit)
- Track 2 … Bad Boys (Moto Blanco Edit) this is only an edit not full mix!
- Track 3 .. Dangerous (Bonus Track)
But NO full club remixes? So that only means one thing ….you must download.
so providing FULL hard to find/deleted remixes only helps promote the single. The customer does not wanna buy the single as the mix he/she wants is not on it. (That is not affecting sales)
You cant force someone to buy something they don’t need or want.
It’s not my fault there is a gab in the market and a demand for full club remixes. (Club remixes are not just for DJ’s) The only way to solve this situation is to either make them available at all record shops or put them on all CD singles. (this will encourage sales if anything!! and make the single worth the money.)
I have repeatidly sent letters, emails and calls to a wide variety of record labels to get there advice about posting remixes only (and at the time with an added sound bite) but not any of them ever got back to me. I contacted:
- Sony Records
- Virgin Records
- EMI
- Polydor
- Fascination
- And Many more…
But only now one company music-house.co.uk thinks that posted remixes only, both old and new does not promote the single but directly affects the artists chart position. (Even though the remix is not on the single.)
In the past and the current day, if I like a song for what it is, I do go out and buy it, but like many others I prefer the remixes as they make the overall song a much better experience.
Thanks for listening

P.S … i shall continue to post as I have a back log to clear and to those who don’t know me, here is a reminder….
I NEVER POST RADIO EDITS OR STUDIO ALBUMS, IF YOU LIKE THE REMIX THEN YOU WILL LIKE THE SINGLE.
SO PLEASE GO OUT AND BUY IT!!!

DJ Spook… I couldn’t agree more.
I totally love this blog, the mixes / remixes / mash up’s are fantastic!
Long, long. long may it continue!
hear hear spooky….I have said pretty much what you have said adfinitum. Record companies just don’t get it. I would happily buy everything my fav artists put out..but 99% is not available. Hence why blog sites are the only resource for them. Instead of closing and threatening sites..embrace what we are doing and giving the artists free promotion. You go girl!!!! You have my 100% support.

I’m in absolute agreement!
Record companies did it themselves by not releasing the CD2 with the single which used to contain the remixes of the song on the single CD.
Very occasionally the Club mixes and dubs are available for download, but not always.
I usually seek out the promo records but that’s an expensive route, and it would be much better to be able to buy them on an official CD.
